That's right. We're going to get ready for some winter Olympic-style adventure. Paul & Beth have constructed a luge run in their back yard and it's time to get the stop watches going. You don't have to jump on a sled to enjoy this wild fun so stop over for some Fellowship on Saturday, February 14th. A chili lunch will keep us toasty to enjoy plenty of trips down the hill!

What a fun woodsy hike!

It was a gorgeous day with warm temperatures (maybe a bit too warm) and bright sun. At three-thirty we started bundling into our winter clothes and getting geared up for our snowshoe hike through the woods.

It was about a quarter-mile of trail with some adventurous turns and dips to keep things entertaining! Ten adults , two almost adults, three children and five dogs enjoyed the afternoon hike.

Thank you for those of you who made the trek to Suomi and helped us have a wonderful time!

For those of you with Snowshoes, we'll pack the trail and those with kids & kids-in-sleds can enjoy the easier walking.

Rumor has it that a sledding event is in the planning for January. Wax up those sleds and find your wooliest socks for some winter fun.

Also, we plan to have you out to our house in February for a snowshoe hike in the woods! We need more snow to make it worth while, so I'm hoping for a complete winter blizzard soon. No snow shoes? That's okay, it only takes a few ahead of you to pack the trail well enough. Little ones can be hauled on a sled.

Well, if you head down to the Mezzanine on Friday evening, there's a good chance you'll be stumbling into a board meeting of some sort. Right now the plans are still being finalized, but we'll stake out at the Landmark in some location (either as a very large table in the Northland Pub or in the Sky Room upstairs).

I sent an Email to the Landmark asking for their suggestions and will be sure to let you know as soon as I get word.

Wow! What a great time we had making wreaths last night. Couldn't have asked for a better greens making party! Thank you for those who brought treats (and plenty of them) and of course to our wonderful hosts.

Remember that our next event is December 14th at the Landmark Mezzanine. It should be a fun and relaxing event as the Holidays kick into high gear.

Halloween Party

You are invited to our 6th Annual Halloween Party & sPoOkY tRaiL walk on Saturday, October 27th at 7:00 pm.

Year after year we dress up, eat ourselves silly and roam around in the woods after dark. Once you've walked the trail, you are welcome to transform into the scare crew and jump out at the next unsuspecting group.

CORN MAZE CARPOOL

We intend to drive, and therefore have up to three extra seats available to carpool down to the corn maze on Saturday afternoon. Alden was hoping that someone could pick her up in Marquette because Josh will have the car at work.

Mezzanine at Landmark Inn

I called down to the Northland Pub this morning to check out how to go about reserving the loft over the bar. As long as we have 8 people or more for a three hour block there is no cost for the reservation.

I'm assuming we'd have dinner, but we could just have appetizers and drinks. And we don't have to all be there for the full three hours, we could just filter in and out as our schedules allow.

Do you have another idea for November? If not, is there a Friday that's better for you?

I hate to rush us right along when we haven't even had a chance to enjoy the Corn Maze or dinner with Jen & John, but the dead line for the Epihpany is approaching and I was wondering what your thoughts were for our November activity.

With the weather becoming a bit unpredictable, I'm guessing we'll be planning an indoor activity. Is anyone interested in hosting?

Otherwise we could look into reserving the Mezzanine in the Northland Pub (Landmark) or perhaps the Adventure Race featuring five station events: rope bridge crossing, rappelling, sled pull, fingal's finers (log toss), the row. Four-person teams compete over 30K course. Hosted by NMU's Ranger Challenge club on November 10 [session members have a meeting that would conflict].

Any ideas??

Um, my kiddos and I could and would love to go to a corn maze on the 20th. I might be a little loopy, since I bake the night before and will not have slept much. BUT the fall air would keep me nice and awake.

Can we get 20 people?

Is it possible to wrangle up 20 people to go? What kind of a discount could we secure? Should we stop at the Crossroads Bar to pick up some interested parties??

Anyway, right now the 20th looks superb for us. Plus, I think it will be a good time to head down there. When we've gone early the stalks are green and tall --but not very festive--and when we've gone later the icy winds has toppled them over exposing the punch sites.

I spoke with Jennifer tonight and she and John would like to host the dinner portion for the corn maze. They can do it on Oct. 20. They would like to meet at the Sands township hall. This is located across from Blueberry cross country ski trail parking area. They would like to meet around 1:00 p.m. and spend most of the day out at the maze. Then head back to their house for chili. People can decide while they are out there when they are done and are getting hungry. This is the website for the corn maze, http://www.hayescornmaze.com/ . It has a lot of good info about how to get there and what they offer. The cost is $7.50 per person, but they do offer a discounted rate for parties over 20 people.
I kind of pushed this along because I need to submit the Epiphany tomorrow and wanted to include an article about it.

Is the Hayes Corn Maze down in Cornell/Rock going to be our October adventure? Or should we plan on another evening just to hang out? Of course there is the Fall Frenzy Mountain Bike Color Tour. [Bike up to thirty-five miles each day during this weekend mountain bike tour through Grand Island Recreation Area. Proceeds benefit Teaching Family Homes. Thank you for stopping by and checking out the NEW Fun & Fellowship Club blog site! My hopes are that we can share ideas, confirm meeting plans and... most importantly... have some fun.

The point of having the blog is not to keep the ideas secret from others, but a way to share some ideas when you only have a minute to spare, before the kids go to school, or once the kids are in bed. It's meant to be an easy way to communicate without having to compose an entire email to everyone.

The current thought gleaned from the first meet & greet night was that we would meet once a month (this can change or modify as our group grows and changes), so feel free to toss out any ideas you may have.
